Unique Design

FAP pockets are constructed of rigid synthetic media, high-frequency welded into an aerodynamically tapered pocket design, to provide high burst strength and avoid contaminant bypass. Pockets have built-in diamond-shaped separators to ensure continued receptive open pockets even when airflow is low or turned off. Short pockets have these aerodynamic separators built in as well. Long, medium and short pockets are made to fit 6 or 8 pocket configurations in a standard frame, usually 24″x24″ / 595×595 mm. Pockets are available in 40-95 % efficiency grades and in three (L, M, S) depth measurements.

Media

FAP rigid pockets are constructed to stay extended and not collapse at air flow shut down, supporting the dust cake formed inside the filter media at all times, even when the airstream is turned off intermittently. Optionally available in meltblown media pockets, that however do collapse when the airstream is turned off. The material of both is of sturdy, unbreakable synthetic polyester or of polypropylene meltblown construction, and pocket seams have broad thermal or strong ultrasonic welded seams to ensure form stability, even under moist and turbulent conditions.

Benefits

Design and construction ensure lowest possible pressure drop, significant energy savings, high dust loading capability and exceptional filter life span, thus greatly reducing operating cost. Elimination of sewed seams results in superior burst strength performance of up to 6000 Pa, or 12″ WG, and prevents any contamination bypass.

The TopAir plastic component standard pocket filter frame (22 mm or 7/8″ frame thickness) fits any HVAC system and can be easily assembled without major equipment. The components are polypropylene-based plastics of a rigid, nonflexible construction.

No assembly machines, hydraulics or compressors are required. A few hand tools and a simple table with pre-fixed standard clamps (available from FirstAir at nominal cost) are all that is needed.

TopAir frame system components come in standard pre-cut packs and are exclusively available with FirstAir welded media single pockets for easy local on-site assembly anywhere in the world.

TopAir pocket filter frames (22 mm or 7/8″ frame thickness) accommodate both rigid thick-media stiff pockets and melt blown soft and thin pockets. TopAir pocket filter frames, components and assembly table are designed to fit standard 595×595 mm / 24×24″ filter frames in 6 or 8 pocket configurations. Other dimensions and numbers of pockets are available when volumes warrant.

Assembly

Assembly is easy when using a simple 595×595 mm / 24×24 assembly table with pre-fixed standard clamps to hold pockets in place. The clamps facilitate assembly by a single person.

The assembly table is designed and supplied by FirstAir.

Tools

Only small commercially available tools and clamps are needed to assemble a complete pocket frame system using FirstAir single pockets.

Labor requirement

  • No training or special skills are required to assemble a TopAir frame with FirstAir single pockets.
  • No physical force, compressed air or hydraulics are needed.
  • A single person, after being shown a short YouTube video, can complete the assembly of six to ten complete pocket filter units per hour on a FirstAir assembly table.

Rigid Construction

  • The RTL-F6 Rigid Pocket Filter is constructed to withstand extreme humidity, high velocities and turbulence and is excellent for gas turbine air intakes and all types of high velocity air handling systems.
  • Self-supported filter media and welded pockets stay rigid in the air stream, and keep dust cake intact even during shut down.
  • The entire filter element is free of metal parts, eliminating all risk of corrosion and punctures.
  • Corrosion-free polypropylene header and welded construction ensure a leak-proof bonding and sealing of pockets to header frame.

Synthetic Media

  • Synthetic media, rated at ASHRAE 65% and MERV 11 efficiencies, has several layers of progressive density to ensure high fine dust retention.
  • Media is engineered with non-shedding fibers in a welded pocket, specially designed to resist degradation, moisture and chemicals.
  • Media resists all types of bacterial growth and is welded into pocket form with an extremely strong grilled waffled welding seam.

FirstAir diffusion ceiling media are designed for the final filtration of supply air to downdraft paint spray booths and to arrest all paint damaging particles larger than 5 microns in size. They are also known as spray paint booth filters and paint booth exhaust filters.  While eliminating those particles from the air stream, these blanket media create a very uniform and downward air distribution throughout the spray cabin chamber, preventing air turbulences that could carry particles to the painted car body. FirstAir downdraft ceiling media are expertly suited for use in auto re-finishing or for spray plants of OEM auto assemblers.

Application

  • Overspray paint particle retention medium for use in, paint plants, spray walls, and automotive down draft paint spray booth floors.
  • Avoids release of paint overspray into the environment and protects equipment from paint overspray contamination.

Construction

  • Sharp elastic mono filament glass fiber strands built into a matrix with progressive density, having an open structure on the inlet air face and a firm laminate backing on the air exit side, assures in-depth paint particle loading and arrestance.

Special Features

  • High compressive strength of the glass fiber matting ensures stability and rigidity in the air stream, even when highly loaded with paint.
  • Will not sag under normal operating conditions which would cause unfiltered air bypass.

Media Description

First Air® synthetic fiber based diffusion media is constructed from a careful designed mix of polyester unbreakable fine fibers structured into a progressive density air filter mat. This results in high depth loading and low initial pressure drop, yet long life performance. All fibers are individually coated throughout the depth of the mat with a special adhesive in a saturated bonding process to ensure that no fibers or paint damaging particles can be separated from the mat through the high velocity air stream or vibration in the system. On its clean air (exit) side the media is particularly dense and reinforced with a woven filament scrim to add strength and support and imprinted with logo, and filtration class.

The media and its adhesive quality has over 5 years guaranteed shelf life, it does not migrate paint damaging particles, has 100% coating of all fibers, a thickness of nominal one inch or 20 mm. and is self extinguishing, First Air® media conforms to international standards in the U.S.A. and the E.U., and are resistant to moisture, solvents and are silicone free.

Media Application
